Over 27,000 meals delivered in one month!

7th May 2020

In April, we provided over 27,000 meals to local people facing crisis.
Despite most of our foodbank premises being closed during lockdown, we have been working in conjunction with our delivery partner, 21CC Group, to deliver food parcels to those in need.
During April 2020, we received 1,369 referrals, 920 of which were singles and couples, and 449 families. They were given three meals a day for three days, resulting in a total of 27,774 meals delivered over the month.
The ongoing impact of COVID-19 has meant that local people rely on our services now more than ever before. To those in need across Edinburgh, our message is clear – if you need food, get a referral, and we will deliver.
Our number one priority will always be the safety of our staff, volunteers and the public we serve. We are closely following all advice set out by the NHS and the UK and Scottish governments, and continue to monitor and act on developments as they arise. Thank you for continued support during this challenging time.
In terms of donations, we currently need: rice, UHT milk, tinned cold meats, toilet roll, long life fruit juice, tinned fruit and vegetables, jam, cleaning products, hand wash/soap and deodorants.
