In December 2016, we had a record month for donations, we received over 19,000kg of food and household products. This was a tremendous increase of 20 per cent on the year previous to that. Thank you to everyone who took the time to donate to us.
However, even with these donations it is not enough to get us through these winter months. In fact, we have seen a 52 per cent increase in the amount of food we have given out in January and February which totals 16,800kg. This helped us feed 1,500 men, women and children, this is a fifth more than January/February 2016.
Our warehouse can really see the impact of the increasing need in our services. The shelves are looking very bare and we are particularly short of these items;
- Vegetables (Tins)
- Pasta Sauce (Jar)
- UHT milk (Carton)
- Fruit Juice (Long Life)
Bethany, our Volunteer Manager, was interviewed by Forth Two radio to explain the situation. The story was run in the hourly news bulletins on Wednesday with an extended feature at one in the afternoon.
We hope that, with this news story, the public will help us, any support is appreciated. Donations can be made at any of our collections points, distribution centres during opening hours or directly to our warehouse (please call 0131 444 0030 to confirm opening times),
We would like to thank radio Forth for listening and sharing our story.
