Record breaking collection

6th August 2013

On Friday the 5th & Saturday the 6th of July, Edinburgh North West Foodbank did a food collection at Tesco’s Corstorphine store.

We had an amazing response from the customers, collecting a total of 2026.1 kg over the 2 days. This is enough to feed 180 single people or 95 families for 3 days

On the Saturday in particular, we were blown away by the generosity of the local community. We managed to collect an amazing 1313.8kg in just one day: our largest single day collection to date.

All our volunteers (who turned up on both days), did an absolutely fantastic job. Not only did they give up their time, but showed a real commitment to helping those in food poverty. Without our volunteers we could not achieved the collection totals that we did.

A special mention has to go out to the management and staff at Tesco Corstorphine who always make us feel welcome and whose continued support we value.

Without all the volunteers, Tesco staff and the local community, we could not do what we do to help people in crisis in our area .

We thank you all.
